Your role 🙋
Work together with our web frontend engineers and mobile engineers on building out a mobile application that is scalable, easy to maintain, and can share as much code as possible with out web frontend. You will be setting up our mobile app from the grounds up and making sure that we follow best practices for releases, over-the-air updates, testing (together with our QA engineers), and development experience. You will also help other engineers seamlessly set up the development environment and build out features necessary for their feature team.
Your responsibilities 💪
In this role you’ll:
- Own the entire react native application lifecycle
- Write code that is readable, testable, and can easily be shared between platforms
- Playing a key role in architectural and design decisions when it comes to our mobile and web applications
Within 1 month you'll:
- Learn more about Juni, our architecture, and our codebases
- Bootstrap a mobile application with basic functionality
- Introduce proposals on how the web and mobile applications will interact and share code
Within 3 months you'll:
- Onboard our web engineers on how to contribute to the mobile app
- Together with the web engineers, build out all core functionality on mobile
- Release our first version on the app stores
- Give detailed code reviews and make sure others learn from you
Within 6 months you'll:
- Set our mobile development experience to be as smooth as possible
- Help automate our testing, deployment, and monitoring for the mobile application
- Be the in-house mobile development expert and help onboard other new frontend engineers
Your qualifications 👨🎓
What we need to see:
- 2+ years professional experience with React Native
- 4+ years working with Javascript/Typescript
- Proven experience managing the entire lifecycle of mobile application(s)
- Very familiar with the React Native ecosystem and the necessary tooling around deployment, testing, and development experience
What we’d love to see:
- 2+ years professional experience with Java/Kotlin and/or ObjectiveC/Swift
- 4+ years professional experience with web development (eg. React)
- Experience with design systems and how they apply to both React and React Native
- Experience with writing a unified codebase between React and React Native when possible
