About You


You love pinpointing gaps in test coverage and developing plans to fill those gaps. You'll have a primary focus on designing test plans and processes for new and existing products.


You have hands-on experience in enterprise software/product development, and you understand critical components of information security. You have over 2 years of experience automating tests in both web and mobile applications, and at least 2 years of experience creating pipelines in a CI/CD tool with both web and mobile apps. You have good knowledge of JavaScript, over 1 year of experience testing React or React Native, and 1+ years of working with applications in AWS. Experience testing Detox or Cypress, Bitbucket CI/CD experience, as well as Typescript and Serverless experience, will all be considered a plus. For this role, it is also important to be familiar with Agile software development methodologies.


You have worked with teams before on large and demonstrable projects, and are an expert at all kinds of automated testing, including Functional, End to End, Regression, Integration, Compatibility, etc. You have hands-on experience with TestRail or a similar test management tool.


As a QA engineer, you must have strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as an analytical way of thinking. Effective collaboration with the engineering team is essential.


You relish testing high-quality code from the comfort of your own home. Your engineering projects will focus on testing web applications and instilling confidence in their stability. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to shipping customer-facing code daily.


You love learning. Engineering is an ever-evolving world. You enjoy playing with new tech and exploring areas that you might not have experience with yet. You are a self-driven, self-learner willing to share knowledge and participate actively in your community.


Having overlap with your team is critical when working in a global remote team. Modus requires all team members to overlap with EST morning hours daily. In addition, reliable high-speed internet is a must.


In addition, reliable high-speed internet is a must. Having an iOS device is required for this role. Additionally, you would need your own Mac/iOS device for building and testing the environment for this project.


Things You Might Do


Modus is a fast-growing, and remote-first company, so you'll likely get experience on many different projects across the organization. That said, here are some things you'll probably do:



  • Take ownership of automation suite with a modern framework on the market for web and mobile apps

  • Good experience with JavaScript and extensive experience with test automation in JS environments

  • Advising and teaching development teams on how to create and maintain tests

  • Experience with CI/CD frameworks and tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Travis, Circle, or similar)
    Integrate quality checks throughout the CI/CD pipeline

  • Experience with AWS services

  • Experience testing React or React Native apps

  • Mentor and coach QA folks with testing best practices and QA core principles

  • Static Code Analysis

  • Vulnerability and Security Tests

  • Unit Tests

  • Writing automated E2E tests

  • Build out the environment and infrastructure needed to run the test in the pipeline

  • Implement tooling to give quick test feedback to the team

  • Inclusion in change & release management process (participate in the Release Management lifecycle, which includes scheduling, coordinating, and managing releases across multiple products using and extending our delivery platforms)

  • Direct test execution and ensuring quality benchmarks are tracked and met (e.g, bugs, test results)

  • Review developer unit and E2E tests in code reviews

  • Experience writing and maintaining test cases

  • Give back to the community via open source and blog posts under QA CoE.
